Hawaiian Holdings, Inc. is the parent company of Hawaiian Airlines, which is the largest airline based in Hawaii and the 8th largest commercial airline in the United States. The company was founded in 1929 as Inter-Island Airways and was later renamed Hawaiian Airlines in 1941. In 1960, the airline became a public company and began trading on the American Stock Exchange.

Hawaiian Airlines operates as a full-service carrier, providing both passenger and cargo services to destinations in the United States, Asia, Australia, and the South Pacific. As of 2021, the airline has a fleet of more than 50 aircraft and operates more than 200 daily flights.

In addition to its airline operations, Hawaiian Holdings also owns several subsidiaries, including Hawaiian Airlines Maintenance and Hawaiian Aviation Services, which provide maintenance and ground handling services to the airline.

Hawaiian Holdings went public in 2005, listing on the NASDAQ stock exchange under the ticker symbol HA. The company has seen significant growth in recent years, with a revenue increase of over 16% from 2018 to 2019, bringing total revenue to over $2.8 billion. However, like many airlines, Hawaiian Holdings has also faced challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with reduced demand for air travel leading to decreased revenue.

To address these challenges, Hawaiian Airlines has implemented cost-saving measures and adjusted its flight schedules to align with changing travel demand. The company has also invested in health and safety measures, such as enhanced cleaning protocols and contactless check-in, to help ensure the safety of passengers and employees.
