Jones Lang LaSalle Inc. traces its lineage back to 1783, when London auctioneer Richard Winstanley founded what would later evolve into Jones Lang Wootton. The American counterpart, LaSalle Partners, began in Texas in 1968. In 1999, the two merged to form Jones Lang LaSalle, and in 2014 began using the shorter “JLL” brand while retaining the full legal name.

JLL is a global provider of commercial real estate and investment management services, operating in over 80 countries with more than 110,000 employees. Its platform spans advisory, leasing, property and project management, development, capital markets, asset management through LaSalle Investment Management (managing over $84 billion AUM), and property-tech via JLL Spark.

The firm is known for combining deep local market insight with global scale, serving clients ranging from office and industrial property owners to data centers, retail, hospitality, and life sciences. Its strategic growth has been driven by both organic expansion and acquisitions—such as Staubach in 2008 and HFF in 2019—alongside digital innovations like JLL Spark and proprietary AI tools (e.g., Carbon Pathfinder, JLL GPT).

JLL continues to evolve its offering by integrating technology into its core operations. It is strengthening digital leasing and building operations, enhancing data-center and sustainability consulting, and investing in workplace transformation services. Its LaSalle subsidiary continues its large-scale investment mandates, while property-tech initiatives under JLL Spark and its in-house tools signal a modernized strategy blending real estate expertise with tech-driven advisory and investment capabilities.
