The company was created through the rebrand and U.S. redomiciliation of Bitfarms, a business originally known for Bitcoin mining. Keel now positions itself as a North American digital and energy infrastructure company focused on data centers, power assets, and high-performance computing workloads, including artificial intelligence.

The company’s core business is developing and owning data centers and energy infrastructure in power-constrained markets. Its strategy is built around securing land, grid interconnections, and energy capacity in locations that can support large-scale compute demand. Keel says its infrastructure is designed for customers such as hyperscalers and enterprise users that need reliable power and space for AI and HPC workloads.

Keel’s footprint is concentrated in North America, with operations and development sites across Pennsylvania and Washington in the United States, as well as Québec in Canada. The company reports a multi-year pipeline of about 2.2 gigawatts, including energized, secured, and expansion power capacity. Its highlighted Panther Creek campus in Eastern Pennsylvania is described as a flagship site, with contracted firm power, 336 acres, and potential expansion capacity of more than 500 MW.

The rebrand from Bitfarms to Keel signals a major shift away from being viewed mainly as a Bitcoin mining company. Management has described the move as part of a broader pivot toward U.S.-based HPC and AI infrastructure, with the goal of simplifying the company’s story for investors, improving access to capital, and better aligning with large customers and energy providers.
