Tamboran Resources Corporation is a public natural gas exploration and production company based in Sydney, Australia. It was founded in 2009 with the intent of developing low-CO₂ unconventional gas in the Northern Territory of Australia.
Tamboran holds a leading acreage position in Australia’s Beetaloo Basin / Greater McArthur Basin region. Its net prospective acreage is roughly ~1.9 million acres. The company holds various working interests and operates many of the exploration permits in that region (for example, EPs 76, 98, 117, 136, and EP 161).
To support its upstream work, Tamboran is planning a downstream gas export component via an LNG project (“NTLNG”) at Darwin’s Middle Arm precinct, intended to take gas from Beetaloo via pipeline for liquefaction and export. The company has also formed alliances with equipment and drilling services firms (e.g. Helmerich & Payne, Liberty Energy) to bring U.S.-style rigs and technology to its operations.
