Vulcan Infrastructure and Power Inc. (NASDAQ: VIP) is a power and digital infrastructure company focused on developing and operating energy assets to support the growing demand for artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing (HPC) data centers. Formerly known as Greenidge Generation Holdings Inc., the company adopted its new name in July 2026 to reflect its transition away from its historical focus on cryptocurrency mining. Headquartered in Pittsford, New York, Vulcan aims to capitalize on the increasing demand for reliable electricity and strategically located sites capable of supporting energy-intensive computing operations. 

At the heart of Vulcan’s business is its experience in power generation and energy-intensive infrastructure. The company operates a 104-megawatt power plant in Dresden, New York, which supplies electricity to the local grid and provides a foundation for its broader infrastructure strategy. Vulcan is also developing a 34-acre site in Columbus, Mississippi, where approximately 40 megawatts of capacity are expected to become available by the third quarter of 2027. By controlling both power-generation assets and potential data center locations, the company seeks to address one of the most significant challenges facing the AI industry: securing sufficient electricity and infrastructure for large-scale computing operations.

Vulcan’s expansion strategy centers on converting its existing energy assets into higher-value infrastructure projects. The company has identified a development pipeline totaling approximately 654 megawatts across its owned sites, including more than 100 megawatts of immediate and near-term opportunities for AI and HPC applications. Its plans include developing powered land, expanding existing facilities, and exploring opportunities involving industrial properties, power generation assets, and existing data centers. Rather than focusing exclusively on building and operating data centers, Vulcan intends to maintain flexibility in how it develops, leases, operates, and monetizes its infrastructure.

In September 2026, Vulcan completed a strategic investment of approximately $39.4 million from Machine Investment Group, Atlas Holdings, Conversant Capital, and other investors. The transaction provided the company with additional capital to address near-term debt obligations and advance its infrastructure development plans. Vulcan has also identified approximately 2.5 gigawatts of potential capacity across 12 additional sites in the United States and Canada through its strategic relationships. These opportunities are separate from its existing 654-megawatt development pipeline and could provide avenues for future expansion.
