Vitesse Energy, Inc. is a U.S. energy company headquartered in Greenwood Village, Colorado, that emphasizes non-operated ownership positions in oil and natural gas assets. The public entity was formed via a spin-off in January 2023, although its precursor business (Vitesse Energy, LLC / Vitesse Oil) dates back to earlier formations.
Vitesse’s business model centers on acquiring and holding non-operated working interests, royalty interests, and mineral interests in upstream oil and gas wells, rather than acting as the operator itself. Its asset focus is regionally diversified: substantial holdings in the Williston Basin (North Dakota / Montana), as well as non-operated interests in the Central Rockies region (Colorado, Wyoming) and portions of the Denver-Julesburg Basin and Powder River assets.
Vitesse holds stakes in thousands of gross producing wells: over 5,700 gross wells in which it holds working interests, and additional royalty wells. Its acreage position is on the order of tens of thousands of net acres (for example, ~47,840 net acres in the Williston Basin) tied to its non-operated exposures. The firm also engages in periodic bolt-on acquisitions: in March 2025, it acquired Lucero Energy Corp. (via its subsidiary PetroShale), thereby adding an operating leg to its portfolio (i.e. moving beyond purely non-operated interests).
